Recently two MIT students raised enough money to give $100 worth of bitcoin to all 4,500 undergraduates on campus. This project will give many students who have never transacted with bitcoin the opportunity to learn, build, and experiment with the capabilities of cryptocurrency. At Coinbase, we were inspired by this project and hope we can contribute to the growing interest of bitcoin among college students.
To support bitcoin awareness among college students, today we are announcing a bitcoin giveaway: we are gifting $10 worth of bitcoin to students who create a new Coinbase account using their .edu email address. We started this giveaway a few days ago, and it’s already off to a great start. Here is the current leaderboard with the most popular universities so far.
