Here is how to claim (before 17 Jan):
Sign up to free Twitch Prime Trial (blue banner near top of page)
Download the Twitch desktop app / launcher (similar to Steam launcher)
Claim your free copy of Tales from the Borderlands (part of loot)
Move the game to somewhere outside c:\ Program Files (x86) \ Twitch \ Games Library
Uninstall the Twitch client / desktop app
Don’t forget to either cancel renewal or turn off renewal for Twitch Prime!
Twitch Prime is apparently also free if you have Amazon Prime Video.
You don’t need to know anything about the Borderlands games to enjoy this game. But you could prepare yourself by reading up a little on the main character, Handsome Jack(borderlands.wikia.com). Although you should stop before the Tales journey is described in the wiki to avoid spoilers.
And don’t forget to crank up the volume when playing cause this game has a mean soundtrack!
